Lennox Furnace Repair in New York: What to Know First

Most Lennox furnace repairs in New York run between $175 and $825, depending on whether you’re dealing with a failed ignitor, a gas valve that won’t stay open, or a blower motor on its last legs. We’re an independent Lennox service provider, not a factory shop, which means we fix what’s actually broken instead of nudging you toward a replacement you don’t need yet. If your Lennox furnace is acting up, call (934) 465-5501 and you’ll get a live person, a straight answer, and a written price before any tool comes out of the truck.

This page is for New York homeowners with a Lennox furnace that’s short-cycling, blowing cold air, rumbling, or refusing to start. It tells you what we see in the field, what it costs to fix, and what our guarantee covers. Written by Victor Mancini, Owner at Cold Harbour Heating and Air New York.

How Lennox Products Fail – and How We Fix Them

Lennox builds some of the quietest furnaces on the market, but the brand has its own patterns. After years of service calls across the five boroughs, here’s what we see most often:

  • G26 and G51 models, failed ignitors. These mid-2000s workhorses came with silicon nitride ignitors that eventually crack or burn out. The symptom is predictable: the furnace starts, the inducer motor hums, and nothing lights. We replace the ignitor with a OEM-grade part, test the flame sensor while we’re in there, and check the board for voltage droop before calling it done.
  • EL296V and SLP98V, pressure switch faults in tight New York rowhouses. These high-efficiency condensing units have pressure switches that read airflow through the heat exchanger. In older New York homes with narrow flues and shared walls, a partially blocked condensate line or a bird’s nest in the intake can throw the switch open and shut the furnace down in the middle of a cold snap. We clear the line, verify the switch with a manometer, and document the reading so you know it wasn’t a guess.
  • ML193 and ML195, the drain trap that gets ignored. These single-stage units have a plastic condensate trap that fills with sludge over three or four heating seasons. When it clogs, water backs up into the inducer housing and the pressure switch trips. The factory manual doesn’t stress it enough. We pull the trap, flush it, and show you what came out.
  • SL280V two-stage gas valves that stick on low fire. These furnaces sometimes fail to ramp up to high fire when New York temps drop into the teens. The house never quite gets warm, and the unit runs longer than it should. A stuck low-fire condition is usually the gas valve solenoid or a board that’s not sending the second-stage signal. We test both before replacing anything, because the valve is a $300-$450 part and we’re not going to sell you one if the control board is the real problem.
  • Lennox communicating systems that lose their wiring harness connection. Higher-end SLP98V and SLP99V units use a communicating thermostat. When a wire gets loose on the back of the thermostat or at the furnace control, the system can throw intermittent error codes that look like a bad inducer or a failed limit switch. We’ve saved New York homeowners thousands by pushing a connector back in and securing the harness instead of replacing expensive components.

Our Lennox Furnace Repair Process

Here’s how a repair call goes, start to finish:

  1. 1
You call. A live person answers at (934) 465-5501. No menu, no voicemail, no portal. You tell us what the furnace is doing, and we ask the right questions to get a read before we even dispatch.
  2. 2
We show up in the window we gave you. Our technicians are background-checked and uniformed, and they arrive with the common Lennox parts already on the truck: ignitors, flame sensors, pressure switches, control boards, gas valves, and blower motors.
  3. 3
We diagnose before we quote. This is where Victor’s signature phrase comes in: “Tell me what it is doing, and I will tell you what it needs – no guesswork, no surprises.” We test the component, confirm the failure, and write a price. That price includes parts and labor. You approve it before we turn a wrench.
  4. 4
We repair with OEM or high-quality aftermarket parts and respect your warranty. If your Lennox is under manufacturer warranty, we use OEM parts and keep the paperwork clean. If it’s out of warranty, we give you the choice: Lennox OEM at around 40-60% more, or a quality aftermarket equivalent that does the same job at a lower up-front cost. We never make that call for you.
  5. 5
We test the repair, not just the part. We run the furnace through a full cycle, check gas pressure, verify flame signal, and confirm the airflow and temperature rise are in spec for your model.
  6. 6
You get the 365-Day Done Right Promise in writing. We hand you a written guarantee before we leave your home. If the repair fails within a full year, we come back and fix it at no charge. Not prorated, not conditional, not verbal.

What Lennox Furnace Repair Costs in New York

Here’s what we bill for the most common Lennox furnace jobs in New York, parts and labor included:

  • Ignitor replacement: $175 – $280
  • Flame sensor cleaning or replacement: $95 – $165
  • Pressure switch replacement: $195 – $340
  • Gas valve replacement: $350 – $620
  • Blower motor replacement: $425 – $825
  • Control board replacement: $300 – $650
  • Condensate trap flush and clean: $95 – $185

What moves the price is your model, how hard the part is to reach, and whether we’re using OEM or aftermarket components. High-efficiency condensing units with sealed combustion take longer to open up than a basic 80% furnace in a basement with clear access. Every quote is a written fixed price, which means the number on the paper is the number you pay. Call (934) 465-5501 and we’ll give you an exact figure before any work starts.

Why New York Homeowners Call Cold Harbour Heating and Air New York for Lennox Work

We started in 2003 as part of the Kingswell network of independently owned and operated HVAC businesses, and we operate by a set of written standards we call The Kingswell Way: say the price before the work, show up in the window given, leave the place cleaner than found, put the guarantee in writing, come back if it fails. Every repair we do, Lennox or otherwise, carries the 365-Day Done Right Promise. If the repair fails inside a year, we’re back at no charge. That’s not a negotiation. It’s on paper before we leave.

Our technicians are trained on nine major residential brands. We specialize in Lennox repair because we see so many of them in New York, but we also work on Carrier and Trane daily. That matters when you have a mixed-brand house or a Lennox furnace paired with another manufacturer’s AC coil. One call, one tech, whatever’s in the mechanical room.

We also understand the reality of New York winter. When a Lennox furnace dies in a prewar building in Washington Heights or a rowhouse in Astoria on a January night, the house gets cold fast. That’s why a live person answers our phone 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Tell me what it is doing, and I will tell you what it needs – no guesswork, no surprises.
